SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS ISSUES OFFICIAL ELECTION RESULTS
Wednesday, August 22 – Supervisor of Elections Ms. Juliette Penn has announced the official results of the 2007 general election.
Ms. Penn announced that the following persons were returned following the poll which took place in each of the nine districts on Monday, August 20:

Territorial District Irene Penn-O’Neal
Territorial District Vernon E. Malone
Territorial District Keith L. Flax
Territorial District D. Orlando Smith
Ms. Penn said that voting and counting went smoothly throughout the Territory. Polls were open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Counting in eight of the nine local electoral districts was completed by 12 midnight on Tuesday morning. In the ninth district, following a recount, the count was completed at 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

In the Territorial district, counting began at 9:15 p.m. on Monday and concluded at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The writs of election and Form 31 (Return After Poll Has Been Taken) were returned to His Excellency the Governor at 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, signalling the end of the election process.
Ms. Penn thanked all the returning officers, presiding officers, poll clerks, tally clerks and others who worked at the various polling and counting stations. “I would like to express thanks to all the officers who worked so hard during the election, including our elections officers, the Deputy Supervisor of Elections and the staff of the Elections Office, and the police. It is due to their hard work and dedication that we were able to conduct the election in the fair and transparent manner in which we did,” she said.
The Elections Supervisor also thanked the candidates, their agents, and the general public for helping to ensure a smooth election process.
