Post Office Relocation

Friday, April 16–In an interview with the Department of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Smith said, “The BVI Post fully supports the move, which will satisfy the health and safety concerns associated with the current location on Main Street.” The General Post Office on Main Street will be relocated to an interim facility at the Qwomar Building on the Blackburne Road, and opened to the public on April 26.

According to the Postmaster, both customers and employees will stand to benefit from the new location. “There will be more parking for our valued customers, and an area for loading, a lift at the front and a ramp at the rear of the building which provides convenience for our hardworking employees.”

“The BVI Post is continuously committed to improving the level of service to the best quality possible,” said Mr. Smith. He continued, “In the near future, there will be an addition of new services to enhance the services of the Post Office; they are currently being tested.”

The public is advised that the new opening hours of the General Post Office will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The location on Main Street will still be used for mail posted after hours.

Due to the relocation, the General Post Office on Main Street will be closed on both April 23 and 24. The BVI Post apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. The BVI Post, which is included in the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance, is responsible for postal communication. The mission of the BVI Post is to build continued confidence in postal communication by providing efficient and dependable mail services.
