Yacht Spotlight: Lady Katlo

Lady Katlo is a yacht of impeccable specification with all imaginable upgrades implemented. Its current incarnation is founded in a mixture of the owner’s diligent contemplation as well as a motivation to provide prestigious luxury.

Buying a Lagoon 450 in 2011, the owner affectionately named her Katlo after his wife’s childhood nickname. Two years later, August 2013 saw a subsequent yacht purchase, conceiving Lady Katlo – ‘Lady’ because it was perceived that this yacht would reflect a grander version of its predecessor due to its increased size and improved amenities.

When in the BVI, the yacht can occasionally be seen docked in Nanny Cay Marina, but due to its larger charter cruising area, she might be in the Virgin Islands to Grenada in the winter season, Bahamas this summer, the Mediterranean next summer, and possibly the Pacific in 2016.

At an optimum speed of 12 knots and having logged 6000 nautical miles, the yacht has travelled to the BVI, St Martin, St Barths, St Kitts, Antigua, Dominica, Martinique, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Bahamas, and Florida.

Current crew Captain Patrick Brink, Chef David Richmond and Stewardess/ Deckhand Juliana Siqueira testify to the yacht’s fantastic features in its spacious salon, the airy three-cabin layout along with the 33ft beam, that evokes the freedom and stability a guest would relish in a deluxe apartment.

The Lagoon 620 62ft yacht built by Construction Navale Bordeaux, interiorly designed by Nauta Design, and made architecturally sound by naval experts Van Peteghem and Lauriot Prevost, truly forms a convincing illusion for a guest seeking the freedom of lounging at a luxury residence; deck seating areas match those of a 150ft mono-hull, and a professional chef with 15-years’ experience—who has cooked for the tastes of Elton John and the Queen of England—is an extremely rare find on a yacht of this size; further evidence of the fantastic dimensions boasted by Lady Katlo.
