Personifying the epitome of luxury, Yacht Spotlight casts its gaze on Kings Ransom (KR); a crewed charter vessel of prestigious standing, named after the prime position in royalty due to its promise of a regal experience for its guests.
The crew, formed by Captain Pete Clapp, Chef Niki Payne, First Mate Daniel Asmus, and Stewardess Martina Walla, adhere to the ethos of providing a grandiose service aboard their Silhouette 76. Built by Matrix Yachts, with Peter Werhley responsible for naval architecture, interior and exterior design, the boat boasts a contemporary feel and comfortably accommodates 10 guests alongside the four crew members.

BVI’s Nanny Cay or Village Cay are the docks where KR finds amenities suited to her preferences, though a favoured anchor spot would be the beauty of Little Bay. Having previously chartered in Croatia where she plans to return for the summer of 2015, KR arrived in the BVI in 2008 and has returned to the Mediterranean twice since. She is the youngest and newest of the Silhouettes here and due to her impressive size with a beam at almost 40ft, she stands as one of wider cats.
Exhibiting what appears as an infinite spaciousness, she heads for St Martin for hurricane season – one of the few places that can haul her out.

Gliding the water with Yanmar 250 hp Turbos, the speciality of the yacht’s mechanics are in her beautifully crafted Bruntons folding propellers, that tend to draw prop envy among fellow captains especially when she is hauled out and they are polished to perfection. KR’s energy saving feature derives from sheer brawn and time dedicated to keeping her ‘bottom’ clean – a smooth rear influences increased speed in the water.
With regular passages down island – a popular route being to St Lucia to some of the lower Windward Islands, she glides along at 10 knots but she has danced with 24 knot surfing waves.
Entertaining an assortment of guests from all over the world including a Prince from Arabia, five cabins means larger families are often attracted to her, affording a vacation of new experiences and valuable memories.
The Master suite is vast with a panoramic window view across the front of the deck, a sumptuous king size bed, walk in wardrobe, sofa, vanity area, en-suite toilet with large shower and Jacuzzi bath – the comprehensive royal treatment. All alternative cabins have TV, DVD, en-suite showers, and queen size beds.
In boom furling and a self-tacking jib makes her a dream to sail for anyone, including guests who may wish to try their hand at the wheel.

The additional features of the yacht: a jet ski, a hobie cat, an outdoor Jacuzzi, full dive kit with onboard compressor, a large tender designed to carry all guests in comfort together, a fly bridge with sun shades, an exterior 55 inch flat screen LED Smart, Satellite TV – all these qualities complement the impeccable service of the crew and physical beauty of the yacht.
KR has always been well maintained, updated and managed allowing her to constantly deliver a high level charter experience. With only three Silhouettes built, the spectacular yacht offers space like few other catamarans on the water, catering to a vast diversity of desires.
Be it gazing into the azure waters below the soft sun lounges on the trampoline decks, sitting blissfully in the breeze of the elegant deck chairs nestled beneath the sunshades on the flybridge, unwinding in the Jacuzzi with a glass of bubbly in hand, or dozing on the open mattresses in the cockpit, guests will be carried to their destinations in unrivalled extravagance, and will undoubtedly return for another trip.
