Saturday September 19th 2009 is Iinternational Coastal Cleanup Day. Last year we cleaned the coastal area in Handsome Bay (Valley), this year I would like to offer the opportunity for others to nominate a coastal area in Virgin Gorda that we could clean.
The International Coastal Clean up is the world's largest volunteer effort of its kind for the ocean. Last year 390, 881 volunteers in 104 countries including 252 volunteers in the BVI (Cooper Island, Tortola and Virgin Gorda) held clean up campaigns along coastal areas and underwater. In the BVI a total of 6756 lbs of marine debris was collected.
