Villa Katsura in Virgin Gorda – Presented by Coldwell Banker BVI

From the Editor

AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHY is a gift to the ‘shutterbugs’ of the British Virgin Islands, owing to the Territory’s auspicious environment and phenomenal hideaways; however, it still takes an astute eye and knack for timing to create those images that recipients will cherish forever.

We’ve recently committed to uploading even more images to our social media forums, believing these photos will steal you away from your working day or bestow those unique facts you never knew – sneak a peek here: facebook.com/VirginIslandsPropertyYacht – we especially liked the response to our post about leatherback turtles on April 3.

Subsequently, May’s magazine pays homage to the artistry involved in photography, through the articles in this month’s layouts. As always, it has been a pleasure producing the publication with the interesting editorials and their accompanying imagery that made this issue so distinct.

Our cover feature is one of the most fantastic properties that we’ve had the enjoyment of exhibiting. Villa Katsura, an exclusive 23,500 sq ft beachfront home on the Little Dix Bay peninsula, was built as a haven of Asian tranquillity and blends with the ultimate in Caribbean ocean views. Finalised in 2014, it is a phenomenal new build presented by Coldwell Banker BVI.

Our Villa Showcase presents Ridgemont House, a heavenly suite representing the epitome in rejuvenation and the first of a vacation rental series we’ll be displaying every month from property managers Villas of Tortola.

In our SEA section, we look back at this year’s ostentatious Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous as well as being permitted to board the ‘Star of the Sea’ – the one and only Marie; a 180 ft superyacht with impeccable aesthetics.

Of course, not to forget our ongoing VIPY Reader Giveaway from The Moorings, offering one of three incredible day sails, each for 10 people. Log on to bvipropertyyacht.com/vi-bvi/the-moorings-reader-giveaway/ for a chance at this awesome opportunity.

In our From Sea Level feature, Lolalita Chef Megan tells an inspiring story behind her ‘Kiss The Cook Risotto’ recipe, which involves some very appreciative guests she had on-board her luxury catamaran; this is paired with a delicious wine selected by Caribbean Cellars.

Geoff Brooks—our maritime historian—returns with not one, but two anecdotes from the BVI’s seafaring past – the near-death experience story is definitely a close shave.

aLG’s popular publication, BVI Newbie, has now been fully circulated in print and online as the fifth edition of the useful guidebook. We review the BVI visitor’s best companion, examining its foundation and future as production of Newbie 2016 commences.

House’s distinctive home accessories range tailors to Mother’s Day this month and Green VI’s Executive Director Charlotte McDevitt has compiled an update on ‘green’ friendliness from a number of organisations protecting our LAND, SEA, and LIFE in the British Virgin Islands.

Finally, although quite honestly shocking for us, VIPY Readers’ Choice Awards is coming around fast, so we adequately prepare you with information about the event and the coming months of nominations and voting.

Wishing you a pleasant month of May as High Season begins to turn down and the sun heats up.
