Christmas in the Caribbean – From the Editor

Christmas in the Caribbean can be a little disconcerting for one who isn’t raised here. Hollywood has promoted the imagery that Christmas means snow and chestnuts roasting on an open fire; that said, we promise that the holiday season in the BVI can be just as merry, if not more so than the winter wonderland many residents and visitors are akin to. Not to forget New Year’s Eve witnessing one of the largest, globally renowned parties at Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke – definitely memories to treasure…or misplace depending on how much holiday cheer you chug away.
Our features this month like BVI HomeSense support the distinctive reasons for being here on the islands. Our cover piece depicts Turquoise Dreams, introduced by BVI Sotheby’s International Realty. This property for sale melds modernism with nature in a spectacular way, positioning fortunate owners at the epitome of Tortola’s grand views.
We also welcome you to our brand new Stylish Spaces segment – an exhibition of the most attractive residential and commercial interiors. Have you got a home, villa, or commercial space ripe for broadcasting to our audience? Step on up and show off your architectural genius or artistic abode with very generous prizes in store.
Villas of Tortola present vacation home Flamingo Sunset – aptly favoured as the villa you sojourn at when you wish to feel a sense of familiarity, and Rosewood Little Dix Bay resort return to us this month with improvements that will blow your mind. The best part? They are also sponsoring the prize for our Reader Giveaway so you can taste their greatness – pun fully intended.
From Sea Level, Caribbean Jerk Lobster Dip is on the menu from our Lolalita chef and Things We Love are for both ‘him’ and ‘her’ in this month’s diverse product showcase from House.
A light confab with Little Switzerland jewellers unveils that diamonds truly are everyone’s best friend when it comes to this powerful, emotional gift-exchange between loved ones, and Brandywine Estate—winners of the VIPY Readers’ Choice award for Best BVI Restaurant—suggest why they believe guests are finding their family-toned establishment so appealing – there’s more to it than their exquisite cuisine.
Finally, VIPY’s Lauren catches up with Studio One Salon & Spa about their success as the multitalented combo service they represent and stellar services they are delivering.
Whatever you decide to do for the Christmas and New Year holiday, we hope this month’s issue aids direction and that you have a fantastic time where ever you are.
Wishing you enjoyment of the LAND, SEA, and LIFE of the Virgin Islands
