44 years in and March for the BVI means one thing…
…the incredible and internationally diverse Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival; an event that has formed a global following, promoting the BVI’s fierce passion for sailing, and exhibiting its worldly image as the capital for this nautical pastime.
Springing forward first of our articles in LAND is the cover feature which unveils the fantastic dual property in Sunset Watch and Sundowner on the tranquil private residence of Virgin Gorda’s Nail Bay.
Review of Coral Hill House in Tortola reveals a charming story; a dream of travellers who journeyed the globe extensively in search of the best location and picturesque home to spend their winter months, while BVI HomeSense opens to some innovative ways to make a home even more attractive on the property market.
Our biggest feature this issue from Chris Smith on North Sound and the people that made it the mecca for sailing and real estate, is the first in a series of articles covering the North Sound phenomenon.
Moving to SEA, our Yacht Spotlight unveils Zenyatta, a luxurious sailing catamaran and the ‘Queen of Racing,’ – you will understand when you read the article.
From Sea Level crewed charter chef Megan, delivers another tasty recipe in Citrus Kale Salad, while returning writer Kelly Bos provides helpful tips for that big family sailing trip you might be planning, or currently enjoying; also, maritime historian Geoff Brooks tells the tale of The Perseverance and its mysterious disappearance. At this moment, it is appropriate that we mention that the VIPY team were sad to learn last month of the passing of Captain Hugh Whistler, MBE – our previous resident historian. We wish his family well and are very grateful for his dedication to preserving BVI history, and generously contributing his profound knowledge to VIPY in previous years.
In our LIFE section, House shows us the Things We Love through their coastal chic range – the first of two product placements exhibiting this theme.
Innovative creative designer Jasmin Powell unveils her new clothing range mimiyuyuberlin available at Cooper Islands Seagrape boutique, and finally, the diligent Humane Society present their plans for the new animal shelter they have in construction.
In closing, we wish you a great month and enjoyment of Spring Regatta – it is one of the BVI’s best occasions.
