Editor’s Letter, December 2013 – January 2014
‘Tis the Season to be jolly…
…and we have something to be jolly about. Committed to a monthly publication deadline, this issue is our annual bi-monthly edition, celebrating the close of 2013 and entrance to 2014. In this volume, we received our Christmas gifts early in reviewing not one, but two phenomenal properties.
For our exclusive cover feature, exquisite Casey Bay located in the pristine setting of Little Dix Estate in Virgin Gorda, graces the homeowner with an epic vision of architectural genius, shining down on its own private beach. Mango Manor Estate, our showcase property is a stunning tropical retreat, situated above Cane Garden Bay on Tortola and heralded as the ultimate haven in villa rental service.
We also reviewed the 1st annual BVI Wine and Food Festival with its vast selection of international, gourmet cuisine and incredible chefs.
Paralleling the uniform New Year theme of resolution and progression, VIPY has been in a state of subtle transformation. Evolving with slight design, layout and content changes throughout 2013, we have continued to ensure delivery of an attractive and informative magazine – concisely phrased, our New Year’s resolution is to maintain our ethos of consistent improvement.

However, this would not be possible without the assistance of our contributors and so in light of the New Year, a reintroduction and show of appreciation to our regular writers is in order:
Edward Childs, Director of Smiths Gore, who delves into the BVI’s property market, Brian Duff of BVI Yacht Sales, who keeps us informed about the world of yacht brokerage, David Gill, Marketing and Design Director of DGlifestyles, our resident professional imparting his expertise in architecture, Traci O’Dea former editor of VIPY who contributes stories with her sparkly edge, Kate Henderson and Fran Morrell, owners of House, who provide advice on home accessorizing and their choice-picks from their store, Louise Reardon, RYA Yachtmaster instructor, who has taken the helm from our long standing sailor-scribe David Blacklock for the Skipper’s Tips column, and Susie Younkle who has continued to provide insightful recipes and tips for yacht provisioning. Also, a thank you to Chris Smith of Coldwell Banker, who joins us in this issue with his perception on BVI property purchase.
During this time, it’s important to show gratitude for all things big and small—and especially for the fact that we have a sunny climate at this point in time!
