Toad Hall Estate’s founder purchased the desolate property in 1968, after serving time in Asia with the US Army. He constructed the main buildings over several months between the summer and winter Solstices in 1970.

The balance was designed to allow guests their privacy inside personal pavilions, with the option of congregating together outside in the shared spaces, just steps away from their bedroom doors. The kitchen and living areas are open plan, sheltered by sloping wooden covers inspired by traditional Japanese architecture. The stylish cooking area is complete with a breakfast bar and modern appliances, opening out to a hand-crafted wooden dining table. Accommodations at Toad Hall include three enclosed bed/bathroom pavilions, 20 x 20 feet, with king size beds to sleep two persons each. Additionally, there is a smaller, studio pavilion suitable for kids or additional guests. Two of these units are ground level with wooden gallery decks, and one is elevated above the pool area. Inside these Caribbean-style houses, the rooms have been tastefully decorated with elegant, contemporary furnishings to highlight the property’s inner beauty, as well as its intriguing outer appearance. Each feature a unique outdoor shower, which have been built between the large boulders, and screened for necessary privacy.
