Choosing Your Perfect Property – From Seaside to Hillside

Amongst the agonising decisions a potential homebuyer has to make in the BVI—apart from which stunning and unique island to call home—is whether to live high in the hills or much closer to the water. The dream is often said to be living as close as possible to the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean with the obvious benefits of stepping from your deck or even your Master bedroom straight into the sand and then plunging in for your morning dip. And perhaps, under certain, perfect conditions, mooring your yacht, just off your deck. The waterfront tends to be a little busier with beach dwellers, bathers and yachts to follow as they float by.

Yet, those who have lived in the islands for a little longer will quite often be heard extolling the virtues of living higher up in the mountains, particular in the long hot summer when the difference in temperature between beach and ridge top can be in the region of five degrees. Depending on your perspective, privacy and tranquillity might more easily be assured, the views can be more expansive and the wonderful cooling tradewind breezes captured more easily.

Two homes currently listed for sale in the BVI illustrate the decisions that have to be made by a future purchaser. ‘The Roost’ and ‘Dos Sols Villa’—two great value residences on the market, located in BVI Tortola and BVI Virgin Gorda respectively.

The fortunate new owner may decide to trim the trees to take advantage of the absolutely breath-taking sunsets.

Situated five minutes by car from Cane Garden Bay beach for lively socialising, yet a sufficient distance to only hear the sounds of nature when on property, this home provides the best of all worlds.
