The Restoration of a Caribbean Legend w/ Rosewood Little Dix

When Little Dix Bay Resort opened in January 1964, its founder, Laurance S. Rockefeller had a single vision in mind – provide a beautiful place to stay in balance with nature. His vision was certainly realised and he created a legacy that has stood the test of time.

Over 50 years later, the time has arrived not for wholesale change but for rejuvenation. The iconic Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive, multi-million-dollar restoration, which will be the most substantial beautification project since the resort was opened.

The restoration will include the complete redesign of the resort’s guestrooms and suites, its three restaurants, and overall enhancements to the resort’s gardens and landscaping. New York City-based Meyer Davis Studio will lead the restoration, working alongside local architectural firm OBMI, who have been leading the way in luxury resort and residential design for some 30 years in the BVI and throughout the Caribbean. Together, these agencies will honour Laurance S. Rockefeller’s unique vision of a luxurious hideaway set amid the pristine backdrop of Virgin Gorda.

The renewal will bring about a new level of sophistication in keeping with the natural setting, whilst introducing brand new signature suites for the ultimate in relaxation and style. A rebuilt Beach Grill will offer a one-of-a-kind beach dining experience, while the iconic Pavilion and Sugar Mill buildings will remain intact, but will feature extended indoor/outdoor dining areas.

Guests will also enjoy an elevated arrival experience and the resort’s vibrant tropical gardens will be enhanced with new lighting, signage, and improved access to Little Dix Bay beach. The renovation will also bring the addition of new restaurant concepts for The Pavilion, Beach Grill, and Sugar Mill, new world-class amenities, elevated service standards, and an increased focus on sustainability.

Upon reopening towards the end of 2017, Rosewood Little Dix Bay will reaffirm its legacy as the Caribbean’s leading luxury resort.

OBMI’s chairman Tim Peck offered his perspective on the renovation: “We are very excited to be part of the team revitalising the wonderful Little Dix Bay Resort. We are all very conscious of building on the Rockefeller legacy, with the upgrade adding a layer of contemporary comfort and luxury repositioning and revitalising one of the Caribbean’s classic resorts. The design palette uses a blend of natural materials throughout, with the architecture offering exciting new guest amenities adding to the unique personality of the resort.”

Heavenly Hammock Sites

Lot 6 – $5.5m

Lot 6 is close to 3 acres and arguably the prime waterfront home-site currently available for sale on Virgin Gorda. It provides everything you could wish for in a Caribbean home-site…stunning sunset, ocean and island views, walking distance to the breath-taking half-moon beach and spa at Little Dix Bay, complete privacy, a relatively flat building envelope, a high standard of completed infrastructure, full use of all the beach, spa, restaurants and other facilities at Little Dix Bay and the security of the Rosewood brand.

Lots 1A, B, C and D – $995k

At just over an acre for just under $1m, lots 1A, B, C and D represent incomparable value for money. Waterfront in Virgin Gorda is becoming more and more difficult to find. At this price point, we all but guarantee you won’t find it. If a dock is required, then Little Dix are willing to lead the charge in seeking the necessary permissions. Sunset views are sensational from each lot. Access for construction is simple and utilities are on the boundaries.

Lots 3A and B – $1.495m

Whilst the dream is often waterfront, the reality of life in the islands can be slightly different. Lots 3A and B offer a choice of equally excellent ocean and island views.
