We all deserve an occasional retreat from our daily lives where we can flee to a place we call paradise.
Situated in a prime location overlooking the graceful vistas of Tortola’s West End, Papaya Villa, proudly presented by Villas of Tortola, is a luxury rental property that grants this heavenly sanctuary.
The palatial compound is situated high in the hillside of Long Bay Estate, a location offering optimal privacy within a tropical wilderness setting, and observing expansive views of the neighbouring islands Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay, and Green Cay.
Through a private gate, the villa is situated behind a stone archway with a large Andiroba door decked by fuchsia Bougainvillea, graced with a welcoming pale apricot exterior and lavish white pillars.
Inside the main house is a cosy living room, tastefully furnished with sofas for relaxation, a television, Wii, SONOS sound system, and a convenient desk area should work become necessary during your getaway.
To the side is a spacious kitchen with sparkling granite countertops, fully equipped with all the necessary state-of-the-art appliances for adventurous culinary artists. Dining can be enjoyed inside on a table with wicker seats, or alternatively in two al-fresco locations; an Indonesian hand-crafted dining table under a shaded pergola, or on a smaller round table for a few guests at breakfast.
The main house presents an open plan layout, as the walls feature numerous sliding doors with screens, allowing a refreshing breeze to travel throughout the interior and out to the spacious patio area.
Papaya’s design is one which was intended for large groups as its features make it the perfect spot to host social gatherings. Outside are additional cooking facilities, including a gas grill and a large pizza oven for whipping up delicious late night party snacks.
On the deck, an assortment of teak and Dedon furniture with bright orange cushions invites guests to stay and relax, dozing under a shaded palm tree on a circular lounger, taking a refreshing dip in the 25’ infinity pool, or toasting marshmallows on the fire pit.
For kids, the property is abundant with hidden areas to discover, including a secret den secluded up stone steps. Adults can enjoy these meticulously maintained garden areas for their beautiful white and yellow frangipani flowers, tropical palms, and the intoxicating scent of jasmine throughout the grounds.
When the socialising winds down and it’s time for rest, Papaya comfortably accommodates eight people overnight in a choice of four deluxe sleeping arrangements. Two ensuite bedrooms are situated in their own building with a large porch overlooking the patio and out to the ocean, both with king beds, but one with the option to be separated into two twins.
Vine Cottage is a separate master suite boasting elegance with a spacious double-sink bathroom, both indoor and outdoor showers, walk-in closet, and a convenient kitchenette with a sink and coffee maker. Time spent away from the main house can be relished inside the air-conditioned room while watching satellite TV, or on the private balcony looking out to the Caribbean Sea.
For those who value their time spent in private, an additional self-contained suite is located down a stairway beneath the deck, with two twin beds, an ensuite bathroom with a rainfall shower, and a coffee area with a mini-fridge.
From Papaya, clear views of the colourful homes decorating the hill of Belmont Estate sit to the left, and down below prime visibility is offered of the mile long white shore of Long Bay Beach, where the waves can be heard gently crashing against the shore; the villa is a five minute drive to this intimate setting, or a 10 minute drive to the exclusive beach and snorkelling spot, Smugglers Cove.
The home is in convenient proximity to an array of dining options, with two restaurants at Long Bay, and many quaint restaurants along the north coast of Apple Bay and Carrot Bay. A 15 minute drive along this route leads to Cane Garden Bay, a favourite tourist beach lined with popular bars and water activity hubs.
Amenities such as convenience stores and trinket shops, restaurants, activities, and the West End Ferry Dock are a short drive away in Soper’s Hole Marina. From here, a ferry can be taken directly to White Bay on Jost Van Dyke to explore the majestic islands visible from the balconies of Papaya.
The picturesque natural surroundings, beautiful adornments, and flush design offering the decision to relax in private, or entertain others have made Papaya Villa the first choice of many returning visitors. Villas of Tortola invites new guests to experience the ideal accommodation of this luxury retreat and unveil the beauty of the British Virgin Islands.
